Epic Motorsports Launches Pirelli World Challenge SprintX GTS-X Campaign for 2018

Miami, FL – Drivers Michael Camus and Randy Mueller will team up to pilot their Epic Motorsports/Patriot Lending BMW GT4 in the GTS SprintX Pirelli World Challenge Championship. The duo has raced alongside each other for the last three years, and will now join forces in the two-driver SprintX format.

Camus and Mueller will team up for the first time to race the No. 3 Epic Motorsports/Patriot Lending GT4 for the 2018 season. The team is working diligently on preparing for the season opener at the Circuit of the Americas, March 23-25.

Michael Camus, President and CEO of the Patriot and MCM Companies has been in the financial sector for 27 years, having founded MCM Holdings, Inc. in 1998 to offer a variety of financial tools to consumers as well as B2B business. Camus started driving in the HPDE environment only four years ago, and has now made his way up to his debut in PWC. Since he started driving, Camus has advanced rapidly and is continuously sharpening his race craft, racking up wins in FARA, NASA, and Trans AM TA3 in his short career.

“The explosive growth of the GT4 class combined with the SprintX platform made the decision to run in the championship easy for me. Additionally, driving alongside Randy as we have done for the last few years was just a great fit. From a business perspective, we believe that the GT4 SprintX class will give our business and brand expanded national presence, increasing our brand awareness and customer base across the country” said Camus.

Randy Mueller has had great success in various racing venues. Mueller is very competitive and extremely determined to have strong results. “I am really excited to take our racing to the next level. We have put together what I believe will be a strong program. We are lucky enough to get proper support from all the right sources. We are driving a BMW GT4 and that speaks for itself. BimmerWorld is joining us as a technical partner and they themselves just came off a strong P2 finish at Daytona in the same GT4 platform. We have Performance Friction Brakes, who hands down have the best brakes money can buy. We have also furthered our relationship with Red Line Oil to provide the lubricants and fluids which are critical in the demanding race environment. Patriot Lending also returns to support the team and provide the opportunity to go racing. I am absolutely thrilled that our partners have come aboard with such short notice and I look forward to sharing great success with them!

Miami’s Camus wins in TA3

In TA3, Miami Lakes’ Michael Camus, in the No. 08 BizBloom.com/MCM Holdings BMW M3, captured his first victory of the year holding off multiple challenges from Randy Kinsland, in the No. 11 Crossroads Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette, to bring home the win for the Miami-based Epic Motorsports team.

“It’s been a long three months for us,” said Camus. “Breaking down at the last three races— I haven’t had the opportunity to compete. But today I had a great battle out there with Randy (Kinsland); he’s a great driver and it’s really fun to race against him. There were some times he was able to get by me, but I knew he was running off his tires—you could see him sliding. So I was able to get a couple good exits out of turn three and was able to hold a gap for the rest of the race. A big thanks to Randy (Mueller) and the Epic team; I don’t know if anyone prepares BMWs better than he does in the states.”

Kinsland would finish second for his fourth podium of the year; while Randy Mueller, in the No. 0 Epic Motorsports/ Bizbloom.com BMW M3, finished third, recovering after having to pit to replace a tire on the 1st lap while in the lead. Mueller remains firmly atop the TA3 Championship points.

Randy Mueller secures come-from-behind victory in TA3

Randy Mueller, in the No. 0 EpicMotorsports/BizBloom BMW M3, extended his own lead atop the TA3 points with a victory of his own, overtaking Randy Kinsland, in the No. 11 Kinsland Racing Chevrolet Corvette, with just four laps remaining.

“I had a good lead early on and was able to distance myself from the pack,” said Mueller, “but then Randy (Kinsland) got around the Viper that was in P2 at the time and was coming like a freight train. So I had to keep in mind to just be smooth and easy and take care of the tires since there was still so much of the race left—and I think that was the best thing, just to manage the tires. I was watching him throughout the race and you could see his tires were fading; he was losing the car a lot more and that’s how I was able to catch back up to him.”
Over the final laps Mueller successfully completed the unenviable task of fending off Kinsland with a slight wobble in the No. 0.

“I don’t know if it was a set up issue or something on the track, but I kept losing the back end going through the NASCAR,” said Mueller. “So what I ended up doing was not trail braking so much and just rolling through at speed into the turn. Our cars work really well through turns. The Corvette that came in P2, it’s about the same weight so it should theoretically work as well through the turns, but on the straightaways we’re at a huge disadvantage, our aero isn’t nearly as good and we’re at a horsepower disadvantage but our balance in these BMWs is so good, it helps us keep the tires underneath us. It was just one of those things to have the patience to let the race come back to you.”

AiM Solo/Solo DL

Solo is a completely automatic lap timer based on GPS technology. Using its GPS based location, it identifies the finish line coordinates and automatically starts sampling and displaying lap times. Of course, Solo can be used in all of your performance situations: circuits, hill climbs, regularity, point to point races, and performance tests. Solo displays and records speed, accelerations, braking… all of the data you need while racing. Then you can review your data immediately after each session, this helps you analyze and improve your performance.

The most important feature of Solo is to show your lap times. When Solo is powered up, it automatically recognizes the start/finish line coordinates of the track you are visiting based on the huge list of World tracks stored on Solo’s internal memory, this allows very precise lap times with very little effort. With a simple keyboard configuration Solo can manage four different forms of motorsports: speed races in a closed circuit, point-to-point races, regularity and performance tests. In all of these different situations Solo gives the proper information during the test and powerful data review immediately after each session.

Solo is fully configurable and includes different lap time display modes: Rolling lap time, Static lap time, Predictive lap time and Best lap. Connecting Solo to your PC, your data can be analyzed and shown in tables, graphs and histograms using the powerful Race Studio 2 professional software, which is included with Solo.

Solo DL offers all the functions of Solo, plus the ability to connect to your car’s Engine Control Unit (ECU) and to the optional camera, SmartyCam HD: a powerful data acquisition system recording important data – like RPM, throttle position and much more – linked to your position on track. All this without additional sensors because of the ECU connection.

The Solo/Solo DL features:

  • Automatic Lap time calculation based upon GPS technology
  • Wide internal Track Database with more than 200 tracks
  • Automatic track recognition at power on
  • Freely configurable display
  • Freely selectable race Mode: Speed, Performance, Point to Point and Autocross
